Training program held on Business Management and Pipeline Technology of Waterworks
[September 24, 2009]
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government held a training program on Business Management and Pipeline Technology of Waterworks for two days from September 17 as part of the initiatives being undertaken through the Asian Network of Major Cities 21. Seven technical officials from the City of Taipei’s Waterworks Bureau took part in this training program.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s waterworks technologies saw its leak rate in the 2008 fiscal year at 3.1%, a standard that is extremely good, even on a global level. During this training program, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s technologies and initiatives were introduced in response to a request from the City of Taipei to learn more about such things as the maintenance management of pipelines and valve lines and measures to prevent leaks, as well as showed how Tokyo deals with such issues. In detail, the training program involved lectures on designing water pipe systems and the management of pipelines, valve lines and water supply equipment, as well as included inspections of sites where pipelines were being re-laid, and a practical application of leak inspections, which was carried out at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Waterworks Bureau’s Training and Technical Development Center. The trainees enthusiastically learned about the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s technologies and know-how with a view toward solving problems in Taipei.
