Rescue Techniques Course
■Outline
The purpose of this course is to foster training instructors to promote rescue techniques in Asian cities, and to upgrade regional firefighting and rescue techniques in accordance with the local situations. The course program is outlined below:
・Tokyo Fire Department website

(1) The Tokyo Fire Department (TFD) Fire Rescue Task Forces will give training on rescue techniques. In order to deepen understanding among the trainees of each topic, participants will receive lectures and visit fire stations, the Fire Academy and other facilities.
Course subjects:
Safety management, fire rescue training, traffic incident rescue training, gas incident countermeasures, electrical incident countermeasures, NBC (Nuclear, Biological and Chemical) incident countermeasures, crossing/descending/climbing techniques, various rescue methods, elevator incidents, train incidents, firefighting in fire resistive buildings, operations using rescue trucks and aerial ladders, etc.
(2) After completion of the training course described in (1), members of the TFD will visit participant cities for approximately two weeks to give technical guidance in accordance with the situation of the local area. In this program, trainees will provide instruction to local personnel while TFD members supervise the transfer of knowledge, assist trainees in providing instruction, and verify the results of the Rescue Techniques Course.
